The thin- and sleek market is serious headed up for gigantic competition as Lenovo joins with its ultra-slim notebook:-the LENOVO IDEALPAD U400 NOTEBOOK. The Lenovo idealpad U400 notebook is sleek and sexy laptop that is aimed at mid-range buyers who hitherto have not had many options. The new machine goes for $800; it has the same design as the U300, except that it came an extra inch of screen along with an optical drive and discrete graphics.

Lenovo Ideapad U400

Looking at it you don’t need evidence that he notebook is so impressive not only outside but too with the kind of component its carrying starting with the storage disk and on to the touchpad drivers.

LOOKS AND FEEL

The Lenovo ideaPad has the same industrial design as it predecessor the U300, and it sports a bluish color but it is bit scaled-up in size visa-a-viz the U300. The U400 is not a light machine as compared to others of its class and make, at 4.37 pounds (1.98kg) and 0.89-inches in thickness; we will have no problem slipping it into our tote bag and much around with comfortably on our shoulders. The U400 does note came in the same profile shapes you will find on other notebooks, but the Lenovo design alit have used good old-fashion paper books as their inspiration, and designed the notebook so as to produce a top and bottom side which extends as a tiny bit past the sides, like covers on a book. This well-thought-out design as produced some knife-sharp edges, along the sides and front edge.

Certainly, the U400 feels noticeably less dense than either the 13-inch MAcbook pro or the HP envy 14.

Like its sister the U300, this new notebook is dressed entirely in anodized aluminum and is available in Graphite gray, but not that rust –colored orange look. This smoother material covers the metal lid, extending onto the palm rest, the keyboard deck, bottom side and even the bazel. Other details include: a discrete spun metal power button, along with equally low-key branding on the lid and corner of the palm rest. In addition to the DVD burner, Lenovo added an extra USB 2.0 port, bring the total to two. They have also added an Ethernet jack, while keeping the HDMI port, USB 3.0, audio port and a 1.3 megapixel Webcam.

KEYBOARD AND TRACKPAD

Looking at the notebook, one can’t fail to notice that Lenovo forgot to expand the keyboard along with new inch addition. Also as U300 the keyboard is note back lit, this won’t be a big deal to anyone though this are found in Dell XPS 14z and Macbook pro. Impressive though, about the keypads is that they have a nice, soft finish and emit a pleasant, low-pitched sound even when typing so fast on them.

As for the trackpad it’s too much the same as one U300. The trackpad drivers are powered by the all powerful CYPRESS, not SYNAPTICS, and the result are absolutely maddening for the user.

U400 display

The U400 has an a reflective finish, 1366*768 resolution and a limited angle viewing screen. Taking a view of the screen from the side it’s a doable, too, though the screen darkens soon as you start watching from an off-kilter angle. This is all because the U400 packs INTEL’s Wireless Display technology that for whatever reason inst easy to come by on other laptops.

Battery life

The U400 will came with a four-cell, 54Wh battery which is rated to last up to seven hours, but can only go up 4Hrs with Wi-Fi on and video looping off the optical DVD drive. With only checking email, talking on GCat and running a browser it can sustain five hours.

Software

It doesn’t came with so many pre-installed software only few like: Google chrome, Microsoft Security Essentials, Microsoft Office 2010, Lenovo power DVD and Youcam webcam, all comes loaded on windows 7 HOME Premium.
